Monday-Friday 245PM – 11:15PM. This position is essential in the
event of an emergency. Pays $21.40 - $30 per hour DOE (Salary
ranges provided are based on relevant experience and skill set)
LOCATION: 414 Harrison Avenue, Boston, Coverage at Other Locations
as Requested. This position works on site; remote work is not
available. Summary of the Position: The Evening Counselor is
responsible for the overall safety of the participants in the
program at 8 Church Street. The Evening Counselor will assist
participants in obtaining their dinner meal and performing other
activities of daily living (ADL) skills. The incumbent will also
work with other staff to engage participants in leisure time
activities. The Evening Counselor will create and maintain a
respectable atmosphere that empowers very chronic, mentally ill
participants to reach their highest level of functioning. The
Evening Counselor will be assigned participants and work with them
on developing treatment plans, ensure follow through on individual
treatment plans and document progress in the log and in the chart
and ensure that all floors are clean and tidy including but not
limited to kitchens, hallways, bathrooms, and individual
participants rooms. The Evening Counselor will also run groups on
their assigned shift. This program will follow the models of
Housing First/Safe Haven. Due to emergency or unforeseen program
needs, staff may be temporarily or permanently reassigned to
another Safe Haven program at any given time. Requirements:
Qualifications: Education/Training: Required: High School diploma
or GED Knowledge/Experience: Required: Minimum of one (1) year
experience in a shelter, community residence or in an inpatient
setting Experience maintaining a safe environment for clients in a
program setting Experience as a human services team member
Familiarity with the concepts of rehabilitation and consumer
empowerment Experience with dually diagnosed individuals Experience
assisting people with ADL skills Comfort level working with
participants with untreated psychiatric conditions Comfort with a
harm reduction approach to substance abuse Effective writing and
verbal skills Preferred: Previous experience working with a Housing
First/Safe Haven model Experience with the homeless population
