Senior Clinical Social Worker: Merrimack Valley location; Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred LICSW RequiredExciting and challenging opportunity as a dedicated ambulatory social worker providing clinical social work services to patients and their families at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's Merrimack Valley location.The Senior Clinical Social Worker practices clinical social work at an advanced and independent level.Position calls for psychosocial assessment and intervention to address needs and concerns, crisis intervention, consultation, and ability to work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team to reduce cancer-related distress and improve quality of life.The Senior Clinical Social Worker, LICSW, functions independently, including ability to intervene and manage complex and high-risk situations involving patients/family members/ interdisciplinary team members.Minimal level of supervision; monthly required.This ambulatory social work role provides in-person and telehealth services to patients and families (i.e., phone/Zoom video); modalities include individual, family, and group work. Candidate must be able to thrive in a fast paced, complex, academic medical environment where the social worker is a key, valued member of the multidisciplinary medical team.This is an opportunity to contribute to social work practice and psychosocial care in a renowned cancer center that combines compassionate care with a commitment to be on the forefront of developing new and more effective cancer treatments.

  • Master's Degree in Social Work from accredited program
  • Massachusetts license (LICSW)
  • 7 years social work practice in health care, minimum of 2 years in an oncology setting or with oncology patients
  • Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferredKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
    • Highly skilled at responding to psychosocial needs and concerns across a broad spectrum of ages within the patient population
    • Highly skilled at patient engagement and clinical assessment skills
    • Highly skilled at crisis intervention and treatment skills
    • Ability to make consistently sound decisions that are guided by experience, policies, evidence-informed practice
    • Ability to address problems that are highly varied, complex, and at times unique, with ability to incorporate interprofessional input and manage team-related stress
    • Ability to provide direction/consultation to teams related to care planning in the setting of disruptive/challenging patient/family behavior
    • Ability to facilitate de-briefing of staff and team members after trauma or crisis
    • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
    • Clinical supervisory experience preferred
    • Demonstrates understanding of systemic inequities, their impact on patients, families, and the community at large
    • Strong organizational skills: ability to triage and determine priorities; tolerance for ambiguity
    • Excellent communication, oral and written
    • Analytical skills; computer proficiency
    • Demonstrates adaptability and flexibility to change
    • Demonstrates initiative to achieve goals
    • Demonstrates commitment to diversity and equity efforts, including advocacy and self-education to advance knowledge base of the needs and concerns of underserved and marginalized populations
