Job Description:

The Senior Director, Market Access and Pricing, Rare Disease will:

  • Lead, execute and monitor the ongoing impact of the global P&R Strategy for multiple products in rare diseases, and in especially execute the world-wide launch of Palovarotene from a market access and pricing perspective
  • Work closely with multi-functional global and local teams to develop innovative pricing strategies and oversee their effective implementation.
  • Recruit, develop and manage the Market Access and Pricing Rare Disease team.Geographical scope:Worldwide remitRelationships:Internal -
    • The Senior Director will work build strong collaborative relationships with various senior global stakeholders including Commercial, R&D, Global Operations, Finance, Marketing, Medical, Regulatory Affairs and Franchises.External
      • The Senior Director will build and maintain a diverse network of international contacts including thought leaders and key opinion leaders to enable them to spot emerging trends within the landscapeFinancial:
        • The Senior Director/Vice President will maximise financial impact through optimisation of launch sequencing and effective collaboration with pricing counterparts globally ensuring sustainable profitability of rare disease products.Main Responsibilities
          • Lead the development of global P&R strategies and management of market access strategies of Palovarotene (through the acquisition of Clementia pharmaceuticals) from early development through product launch across all geographies
          • Work effectively with the pricing counterparts in executing pricing strategies globally and locally
          • Create and lead long-term, innovative pricing strategies for both in-line and pipeline products utilizing leading edge technology.
          • Develop value-driven optimal pricing strategies for markets including value-based contracting, tendering, etc.
          • Obtain/ maintain optimal reimbursement/funding and access conditions for (insert therapy area) products globally (both in-line and pipeline). Identify the main challenges and opportunities and develop an action plan to address them.
          • Establish and gain agreement for an initial pricing band for each new product to be launched by collating data from multiple sources (including market data, payer data, analogue pricing, input from key affiliates etc.)
          • Develop a best-in-class Market Access team in rare diseases with capable, technically-skilled, motivated and properly-directed team members.
          • Ensure relevant input of market access throughout the product lifecycle and understand, monitor and maintain intimate knowledge of the global P&R requirements in the main markets
          • Ensure on-going learning from existing P&R strategies and tactics are included into future pricing decisions

              • Collaborate effectively with and balance the needs of multiple stakeholders throughout the organization being able to solicit, assess and incorporate relevant perspectives while pushing back when needed.
              • Utilize a data-driven, logical approach to building consensus and gaining buy-in.
              • Partner with Franchises, Commercial & R&D teams to ensure optimal market access strategies for rare diseases and obtain alignment on critical issues.
              • Build strong relationships with Global Operations, Business Units and market access affiliates to develop market access strategies which align both corporate and local objectives.
              • Effectively collaborate and influence Franchise & Commercial Strategy, Finance and Corporate Strategy teams to appropriately forecast pricing of Ipsen rare disease products
              • Develop, coordinate and communicate long-term P&R Strategy and roadmap planning across the Ipsen portfolio
              • Ensure P&R needs and perspectives in rare diseases are considered across the value chain and pricing strategy/bands are adhered to.
              • Ensure the relevant tools developed by the team meet the needs of the stakeholders and are delivered in due time
                • Ipsen external reputation management
                  • Maintain and communicate up-to-date and meaningful analyses/ insights regarding trends/developments of P&R methods, in rare diseases to key internal stakeholders and external industry peers
                  • Understand the evolving rare disease landscape and solicit perspectives from thought leaders and external partners on possible alternatives.
                  • Demonstrate a sense of urgency to overcome obstacles and achieve measurable results while applying Ethics & Compliance process and requirements.Experience / Qualifications
                    • Existing track record of senior leadership success in motivating, empowering, managing, developing and mentoring a high-performing team.
                    • Comfortable dealing with ambiguity and able to make timely and insightful decisions and to solve problems at a critical time and in a rapidly transforming organization.
                    • Demonstrated expertise in understanding international healthcare systems and financing mechanism
                    • 10-15 years of global experience required with a minimum of 5 years in orphan diseases and/or specialty products
                    • Ability to access a strong network of international experts in the field of rare diseases
                    • Sound knowledge of HTA submissions, pricing methodology and global pricing and reimbursement requirements with a track record of securing pricing, reimbursement and access for (insert therapy area) products.
                    • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills to effectively convey strategic and technical market access information/issues to stakeholders and market access team members.
                    • Demonstrated ability to promote and proactively engage in collaboration.
                    • High level of commitment and strong sense of accountability.
                    • Ability to prioritize effectively, addressing short-term needs while maintaining a focus on long-term strategies.
